In 1920's France, Bal Negre was a popular dance club that featured Black performers and Black Music or Jazz. Josephine Baker was quite celebrated in France and was no stranger at the Bal Negre. This repro of a c.1927 advertisement of one of her performances is probably on of the most famous Art Deco illustrations to date from this era.
