Mos Def Steps Down From Lupe Battle and Lifts Up Hip Hop Culture (AUDIO)

For those of you that were looking for another messy Rap battle since that painful debacle between Drake and Meek Mill, you won't be getting that satisfaction from Mos Def.
Mos Def has no interest in battling Lupe Fiasco. Mos Def states:
“I want to take this opportunity to address this entire atmosphere that’s surrounding us. I know a lot of people are on it because of what happened with Drake and Meek, and they want to see another version of it; it’s just like another Fight Night type of atmosphere,” he said. “We are the only culture that this atmosphere has been constructed around. Some of that is self-perpetuated, but all of it is not self-inflicted. It’s threatening to turn the whole thing–or a fair portion of the thing–into some gladiator tournament.”
Well done, Yasiin Bey, for representing Responsible Artistry. In a world with a blood lust for Black spectacles that divide and degrade us, Mos Def shows that he is still a cut above the rest by refusing to comrpomise his politics and integrity for ego and worthless accolades. We need unity more than ever and our artists should take leadership roles in this regard.
"The Measure of Power is Restraint."
Respect to the Nth, Mod Def.
