82 year old legendary comedian and iconic activist, Dick Gregory, will be the subject of a new documentary scheduled for release in early 2017.
"Dick Gregory: How To Survive in America", directed by Andre Gaines, will primarily focus on Gregory's successes in unapologetically imposing social injustice and racial equality conversations into the American narrative. Gaines is the owner of Cinemation Studios which was registered in 2010. Prior to that, he held a producer position for HBO Interactive from 2006-2007 and acted as editor for Vibe Magazine from 2001-2002.
Although documentaries have been done about Dick Gregory in the past celebrating his legacy, "Dick Gregory: How To Survive in America" quite possibly has the biggest budget. With the help of Hollywood A List supporters like Judd Apatow and Bill Maher, Andre Gaines' kickstarter campaign was fully funded for the amount of $200,000 in less than 2 weeks.
What say you, Arts Lovers? Are you looking forward to seeing the incomparable Dick Gregory's story told on the big screen?
