Looking Back on "Dear Dilla"- Phife Dawg's Letter to J. Dilla (Video)

Hip Hop mourns the loss of another great artist today. Malik Isaac Taylor, AKA Phife Dawg was one of the founding members of the quintessential golden age hip hop crew, A Tribe Called Quest succumbed to diabetes related illness at the age of 45.

Two years ago, he recorded "Dear Dilla"; a tribute for another legend that left us too soon, J. Dilla. The imagery of the video shows Phife Dawg and Dilla as kindred souls, effortlessly creating great music despite ongoing physical complications with their respective illnesses. Looking back on this video today, we get a very personal glimpse of Phife's struggles in managing his own health from a completely different perspective now that he's gone.
